Version 2.5 of the Windows App and Web App are in Testing
It's been a busy stretch on Vinyl Crate Digger. Here's what's changed since the last round of testing.
The Windows app
- Improved loading times
- Scan from the main search. Point your barcode scanner at a sleeve while you're on the library screen and the record comes right up. No need to open Now Playing first.
- A clear button in the search box. One click (or the Esc key) empties it, ready for the next record.
- The cursor goes back to the search box after you close a record, Settings, or Now Playing, so you can keep scanning without reaching for the mouse.
- Scanning no longer opens a record by accident if your mouse happens to be resting on one.
- Forgot your password? Generate a recovery code in Settings and keep it somewhere safe. If you're ever locked out, "Forgot password?" on the sign-in screen gets you back in.
- Discogs import remembers your Discogs username, so you only type it once.
- Fixed a problem where the app could fail to start on a brand-new install.
The web version
The same collection, from any browser. It's still in testing, but it's come a long way:
- Improved loading times
- Two-factor sign-in is required for every account, with an authenticator app like Google Authenticator.
- Password managers like Apple Passwords now offer strong passwords and save them properly when you change yours.
- The same clear button in the search box as the Windows app.
What's next
I'm working toward the first public release of the Windows app, along with tags for organizing your records, a wantlist, and help figuring out where each record belongs on your shelves.
